Weekly Movers #1: Charizard ex #223 Slips in Slab and Raw — and Cleffa Jumps 23%
Our first weekly movers report from SlabVerdict sold-sales tracking: Charizard ex #223 drops in both PSA 10 and raw, Cleffa #202 jumps 23% on tripled volume, and two big swings we refused to print. Sep 8-14 vs Sep 1-7, 2026.
Sep 8–14 vs Sep 1–7, 2026 · Published Sep 16, 2026 · SlabVerdict sold-sales tracking; levels cross-checked against PriceCharting (Sep 15, 2026)
This is the first edition of a weekly column: the cards whose sold prices actually moved, measured from the sales we track ourselves. The rules are strict. A card-and-grade bucket qualifies only with at least five tracked sales in both weeks. Condition-flagged and mis-mapped listings are excluded before anything is computed.
Every mover we print also has to survive an external cross-check against PriceCharting. This week, 35 buckets qualified. Three moves are worth your attention. Two we held back on purpose — more on that at the end.
Charizard ex #223 (Obsidian Flames): down in the slab, down in the raw
The set’s chase Special Illustration Rare had a soft week on both floors of the building at once.
| Bucket | Sep 1–7 median | Sep 8–14 median | Move | Tracked sales |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PSA 10 | $910.00 | $710.00 | −22.0% | 9 → 5 |
| Raw | $93.50 | $80.28 | −14.1% | 8 → 20 |
Two things make this more than one week of noise. First, slab and raw moved the same direction in the same week. That is a demand signal, not a listing-mix accident.
Second, look at the raw volume. Tracked raw sales more than doubled (8 → 20) while the median slipped. More copies chasing fewer bids is the classic shape of supply pressure.
PriceCharting’s PSA 10 level sits at $758.85 as of Sep 15. It is marked down on the week there too, so an independent series confirms the direction. PriceCharting’s ungraded level is $102.00.
The knock-on effect is the gem multiple. A week ago a PSA 10 ran about 9.7× raw; this week about 8.8×. If you have been waiting on this card, the math just moved in your favor. Run your own numbers on the card page before the market decides which week was the outlier.
Cleffa #202 (Obsidian Flames): +23% on tripled volume
The counter-trend story came from the same set. Cleffa’s Illustration Rare went from a $26.00 median on 5 tracked sales to $32.00 on 14. Price rose 23.1% while volume nearly tripled. That is the opposite of the Charizard pattern: more buyers showed up, not more sellers.
PriceCharting’s ungraded level agrees with where our week landed: $35.25, with recent sales clustered at $32–36. One more number is worth knowing before you sleeve one. The PSA 10 on this card trades around $421 on PriceCharting. The gem economics are the whole game here, and the card page has the ladder.
Zapdos ex #202 (Scarlet & Violet 151): −14.6%
Quieter but real. The 151 Special Illustration Rare bird slid from an $85.50 raw median to $73.00, on steady volume of 8 sales each week. PriceCharting’s blended ungraded number is higher, at $92.95. Our tracked medians skew toward auction results and typically sit under blended retail.
What this column measures is the week-over-week direction within our own series. It points down. Card page.
The two movers we refused to print
Honesty section. The two largest raw swings in this week’s extraction were Mewtwo AR #183 (Japanese 151) and Ninetales #199 (Obsidian Flames). Both failed our cross-check. The weekly medians our tracking produced sat far outside PriceCharting’s recent-sale range for the same cards.
That usually means listing-mix contamination, such as lots or mislabeled variants, rather than a real market move. When our number and the outside world disagree, we hold the story instead of printing it. Both cards are flagged for a data review. They will return here if the move turns out to be real.
Method: medians of SlabVerdict-tracked sold sales (eBay), computed per card and grade bucket over Sep 1–7 and Sep 8–14, 2026. Buckets qualify at n≥5 in both windows. Condition-flagged and crosswalk-flagged rows are excluded. Levels and direction were cross-checked against PriceCharting on Sep 15, 2026, with a ±30% tolerance.
Full methodology: how we compute this. Not investment advice — this is what the tracked market did last week.
